The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required to perform the duties of a Corrections Deputy. This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Other duties as directed by a supervisor.Know and follow institutional policies and procedures.Document and properly maintain all related work logbooks and entries. Respond professionally to inmate requests, concerns, and emergencies.Interact professionally with inmates and supervise inmate housing units.Operate and work housing floors, control centers, intake, and property sections.Provide or obtain medical aid to inmates, based on training.Assist and monitor serving meals to inmates.Participate in secure and safe inmate movements and activities Other duties and responsibilities are listed below. Attitude is essential to maintain positive relationships with co-workers, respond professionally, calmly, and politely to members of the community, work as a team member, function under pressure, and respond in a professional manner to supervision. The most important and essential job function of the position is to have an attitude of service to others. Other factors which strongly influence the employment process are previous work experience, previous law enforcement experience, two years or more of college education, a clear driving record, no history of prior criminal activity, and a responsible credit history.Ĭorrections Deputies take the first line responsibility for the care, custody, and security of inmates.
